【福音400恩典台灣】上帝與台灣的故事-縱覽 英文版 The Gospel's Footprints: 400 Years in Taiwan The Story of God and Taiwan-Overview. In a series of unexpected events, the first Christian liturgical service in Formosa (the former name of Taiwan during its Western colonial period) was a corollary of a group of Jesuits shipwrecked in Tamsui. As such, Taiwan also became the first land in East Asia where Christianity was introduced, with the gospel first coming into contact with the Siraya people in the 17th century. For the past 400 years, God has continuously advanced the gospel on this island, which is situated between continental Asia and the Pacific. Irrespective of which people group came first and settled on this island, God had Taiwan predestined in His own amazing ways. In 2024, as we commemorate the 400th anniversary of the gospel’s journey in Taiwan, GOOD TV presents to you The Gospel's Footprints: 400 Years in Taiwan, a documentary series that gives an account of how it all came about. From the Dutch arrival in 1624, through the Qing rule and Japanese occupation, up to the Nationalist government's retreat in 1949, we bring you in-depth reporting and interviews. Our series covers how the gospel was sown, how it sprouted and flourished, showcasing some of the most iconic artifacts, figures, and events that shaped this four-century narrative. This 12-episode series is the first of its kind to document the church history of the Chinese people, with a particular focus on Taiwan. It represents the culmination of a year's fieldwork and serves as a compendium, featuring insights from experts and scholars in ethnology and church history, as well as prominent ecumenical figures. We aspire that the spiritual legacy Taiwan inherited from Western missionaries serves as a call to action. Our hope is for the churches in Taiwan to understand God's plan for the island, to recognize Taiwan as an elected and predestined vessel, and for her people to embrace this plan as one, staying on course as a blessing to the nations.
